Music

For many, music can be a powerful way to connect and find peace during difficult times.

Just let your Funeral Arranger know what music you would like on the day, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Funeral Music options

Use music to create personal and powerful moments of reflection

  • Choose your music: We recommend at least three tracks per service, to cover the entry, reflection, and exiting the service.

  • Dedicated Music team: On the rare occasion your choice isn’t in our library, we’ll do all we can to personally find it for you.

  • Concert-grade quality: Great music is nothing without a great sound system. Our purpose-built systems help your music sound the best it can be.

Just let your Funeral Arranger know what music you want to hear and they’ll do the rest.

Every music choice, handled with care

  • Your tracks played through concert-grade speakers, bringing music to life and encouraging reflection.

  • In-house music detectives that will hunt high and low to find the exact song or hymn that you want.

  • We’ll even digitise songs from a hard copy to get the track you need.

  • Visit our Music and Hymns Libraries to explore what we already have.

At Obitus, we know that music is an essential part of a funeral service. That’s why we go above and beyond to help you find and play the music that meant the most to your loved one.

What our customers say

Our Music can really help capture a personality and create powerful moments of contemplation.

Here’s a review from one of our users.

“Most importantly, families now have a huge resource of music choices; they can listen with their Funeral Director or here in the office before selecting.”

“Funeral Directors are no longer running round North Devon with CDs or struggling to source music and having to compromise. Staff no longer have to chase music or check CDs and ensure they are in the correct chapel for the service.”

- Mark Drummond, North Devon Crematorium

More ways to say goodbye

We have a range of other options available to make your service more personal.

When you celebrate a life, our range of Visual Tributes help you remember them in a personal way. Our team can create a rich and moving story using photos, video and music.

Tributes

Not everyone can make it on the day. But they don’t have to miss a thing. Our Live Streaming service makes it easy for everyone to say goodbye.

Streaming

Sometimes it can be hard to recall the poignant moments from a service or Tribute. Our range of Keepsakes help you hold onto that memory forever.

Frequently asked questions

  • Your Funeral Arranger can book your chosen music through our order platform. Simply let them know the tracks you’d like and they will order them ready for the day.

  • Our music library is constantly growing as more people choose songs for their service.

If we don’t already have the music track, we’ll do everything possible to find it elsewhere. Give as much information as you can to your Funeral Arranger to submit, and our dedicated Music team will then search a range of other sources, from online music suppliers to record shops, to find it for your service.

  • We realise how important it can be to use the exact version the family has requested, so we’re happy to receive any link that will help us locate it.

Please note: We can’t guarantee that we will be able to use that specific version, especially if it has not been commercially released, such as a version that only appears on YouTube or another online service.

  • As long as we can buy a music track, we should be able to play it. We are bound by legal licensing obligations that mean we must purchase a track to feature it in our library for use.

If a track is taken from a streaming or video service, such as Spotify or YouTube, we’ll do everything possible to use a legal, licensed version.

  • Yes, we’re able to play pieces personally recorded by the family, including songs, poems or eulogies.

Simply send us a copy of the file and we’ll add it to the service – we even master the track so the sound quality is as good as it possibly can be. And we always list these pieces as one-offs, so they’ll never be added to the public version of our library.

We cover even more of our more commonly asked questions over on our Support page and in our blog.
